Answer to Sam Q-why?:

January 8, 2009

Think about McDonalds and why they decided to change its image recently.

McDonalds were known for fatty junk foods until they began selling fruit and veg.

We are doing or aim to do a similar thing with Reebok shoes.

Trainers these days aren’t really associated with ‘sport’; it’s usually something that people would buy to make visual statement about themselves. What we want to do is enforce the image of sports/running etc by getting real athletes to wear them and possible create a more serious sports band out of Reebok hex.

“Your not buying these shoes to look cool your buying it to take the right “STEP” to enhance your fitness levels or get you back into shape.”

Some facts to strengthen the idea:

Headline of this read: Map highlights ‘obesity hotspots’

1With our chosen idea we can sell the product and also inadvertently encourage people to atleast think about their health and so on, especially now when the uk is on its way to be one of the fattest nations in the world. =P

Linn I have made a few little changes to the order of events to show what’s happening from step to step more clearly and to me it makes more sense to use the new order. this way it’ll be more easier for the people to understand. The link to the post is here below, please review it ASAP.

Link to the post is:  http://effingnewmedia.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/completed/

I dont now how it’ll effect your flash work but i am guessing you’ll need to add two more slides and make sure the others are in the new order. Sorry for being a MAJOR pain ; (

Thank you linn

-Here are some possible answers to Linns questions-

Shoe info- I think the image below maybe because it’s giving our audience a pretty good picture of whats going on.

pedometer

Target audience your idea for this sounds Fabulous.

For running routes text suggestion:

Measure time and distance on your running routes. As you take part, this information is then relayed and instantly displayed on the participating billbaord nearest to the sport shoes.

Notes on the future- Use a combination of images and text

Intro/concept- olly and sam will be the strongest at describing this since the original idea was triggered by them

IMAGES OF NEW SHOES, DONE!

January 7, 2009

On the top right corner you’ll see a “flower shape” made out of hexagons, you can use it to make more hexagonal backgrounds via “tessellation” (copy and paste it over and over again to make a huge pattern) its included.

Here’s where my raw file for this is located: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=88S8OY3V

File size is around 6 mb.

rbk_diffangle

Next one was created by dividing different parts of the shoe and putting them in layers so its more fexible to work with and potentially you can create somthing along the lines of this:

layers_shoe

RBK uses two colours on the sole remember and that image is  here

This is basically to use as a guide when adding your own colours.

re-hexLink to for my raw file for the image above is at:  http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R1HBGUMW

A little heads up… the size is around 49mb!

linn and olly you can start inserting these new images

You guys must be wondering why the ipod button is grey and divided into pieces well here’s the answer:

ipod-advert I thought if were going to show data, we might as well show it in an interesting way.  Pie charts are great at doing just that!  This way people can tell whats what in a fraction of the time. Also displayed is the buyers avatar which is  clearly visible and its achieved without the need of them hogging the entire billboard.

working on something…

December 12, 2008

What I am going to try and complete over weekend is to turn each of these points stated in figure 1. into an image. To visually demonstrate our idea, call it an experiment!

It’ll be a draft thing but in this process at least we can cover some grounds as to presenting our idea clearly.

Figure.1

concepta4-copyThe first one about “purchases/ unwraps the shoes” is completed below and you can download the raw Photoshop file here and use as you see fit =)

Yeah I know its a dull  black and white illustration but any one of us can add the branding/colours later. if i could get around 6 of these slides done, it will strengthen our ideas and thoughts on the project.

The image below was painstakingly created using the pen tool!

I have found some images which caught my eyes, my fav is the first one “Just for kicks” and the shoe bike.

This Mars bar commercial is definitely related to the type of concept we’re trying to create.
Basically it’s showing a guy walking through places and as he does, everything he steps near lights up or “comes alive”. Also it shows interactions between man and objects, something what we want create using billboards.

The reactions we want to provoke are along the lines of hummm…..

ha-ha! something funny worth adding in, i think. you guys should see the “remix“… hilarious!

Playing with scale

December 4, 2008

Its not in our budget nor do we have the time to create anything like this but the inspiration and the boost it gives you is amazing. This is an old medium shown in a more contemporary manner.

A Sony advert playing with scale, using 200 plasticine bunnies, hopping through New York.

Although personally i have been put of with scale.

Sam why do you have a fetish (ha-ha) for Oyster cards, Touch Screens and Sat Navs? I was thinking maybe we could use google maps (videos & pics) to gain information of a local area and get to know it to before we target it with our brand and possibly create something using the items you’ve stated.

If someone knows of websites that do something interesting using postcodes, post them up.

I am going through my bookmarks at the moment so pitch in.

Google maps for example does just that, using pics and video. This way we can combine many different mediums from many sites and maybe do something pretty cool with it?

Feedback please

Ideas and directions?

December 4, 2008

From what I know, you guys want to go into trend spotting and target your audience according to where they live locally, it’s not a bad idea. In fact, it’s does as Olly said fit the brief and I have being doing some research in hopes to backup this idea.

Advertising and targeting via a social networking format is the latest trend. Although it has been around for some time, the method is always changing and becoming more and more advance.

Social networking sites such as Facebook, myspace and a couple others are going to be a prime examples right?

facebook_myspace

From this stage my research took me to this article:

“Facebook Presented Video Showing Global Interactions of Its Users”

Basically the article as you might have guessed it from the title is about how people interact with other people on a global scale using facebook.com. There’s even a video, which I have taken from youtube and pasted it below in hopes of sparking a few ideas of:

Below the text has been taken from my CS assignment but I think it is ravlent to this brief in some way:

Another thing came to interest was social networking and virtual worlds and since it fit the given timeline, I thought it was worth checking it out.

ces_second_life_koolaid_001

“Companies today are spending and investing enormous amounts of cash to dominate within this ‘cyber-world’. The next big thing on the internet is 3D virtual worlds.

Here users can socialize, connect; create using voice and text chat. A key example would be “Secondlife.com” where a user is able to make real money within a virtual world by creating virtual goods and services.

All this points towards one thing and that is business opportunities. Using this virtual world format, it allows practically anyone to build and try out there business ideas without actually implementing them in the real world. This means you can literally seat back and watch your business idea unfold before your very eyes, without having to step a foot out into the real world”

More info on the site can be found  here.

This Article got stuck in my head, it was in the metro newspaper maybe because I began laughing really loudly on the trian whilst reading this? If sparks something of, great and thats the main reason its here:

“Woman Divorces Husband After Catching Him Cheating in Virtual World”

All this talk about using infra red sensors and this is what was found: “Air Guitar With Infra-Red Strings, maybe its Olly’s christmas list =D

air-guitar

The thing above uses laser beams or somthing.

The one thing that i found exicting of this article about scientists developing a Flexible and Transparent Display. just imagine the possibilities with this thing, how our mobiles device will change or how the visual world around us will change when this is released:

flexible-oled

Oh and another thing I recommend visiting the site below and have a look at the banner advert of the man being transformed into a musical intrument:

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/page/products/KURO_TV/landing.html or if you guys just want to see the flash work aka the banner in action go here: http://www.pioneer.co.uk/files/KURO_TV/landing/visual.swf

Just refresh the page to see a different morph! enjoy.

This can be turned into Sams concept of combing the oyster card with some other common topic and may work. the video is totally lame but basically its about a device named “CINeSPACE” which Helps “unveil” cultural heritage based on tourist’s Interests.

The article of this thing can be found here.
